What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is the perfect place to find the best version of yourself. It is primarily a talk based therapy approach to help maintain mental and emotional health and over all well-being. Various frameworks including cognitive and behavioural, experiential or practical application, somatic therapies and other humanistic or collaborative approaches may also be applied in my practice.

What does a therapist do and how can they help me?

A therapist is someone who provides a safe space to listen without judgement in order to help you learn more about yourself, and support any appropriate changes needed to better your quality of life. Additionally, I can offer you strategies, coping tools, and resources within my circle of care for any issues that may that arise if they fall outside of my scope of practice.

What can i expect from a Registered Psychotherapist?

You can expect high levels of care, kindness, understanding and confidentiality. Competent and ethical practice is at the forefront of our work together, as I practice within the standards and limits set by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. Clear information for consent will be shared before our work together begins regarding professional conduct, record keeping and documentation. You will always have the right to make the best decisions for you and your therapeutic process.

How long does psychotherapy take?

There is no set amount of time for completion of therapy. Each client has their own journey to make based on circumstances, personal support systems and how willing they are to do the work.
